What Are HIFU Treatments?

Hush Clinical Uses A Renova HIFU Machine

HIFU stands for “High Intensity Focused Ultrasound”. Ultrasound has been used in the medical industry for decades, and has more recently been developed to specifically stimulate our body’s natural healing and regenerative response, specifically skin tightening and lifting. In fact Hifu Works to rejuvenate the skin (and deliver similar results) as a traditional face lift , but without surgery or downtime.

How HIFU Works

HIFU treatments work by applying ultrasound energy underneath the skin. It works on 3 levels on the face. Firstly the SMAS layer. This is where the muscle and the skin meet! It is the only treatment in aesthetics that gets this deep - hence providing superior tigthening and lifting!

Our machine the RENOVA CFU / HIFU ultrasound works on deeper levels of skin and collagen, without harming tissue or the outer skin. It is much less painful than other machines as it is a smaller handpiece and we choose the energy and area we want to target.

Ultrasound energy is directly transferred into multiple layers of the skin to trigger collagen renewal for a tighter, younger complexion. The process of lifting can often be seen on the day but its the next few months that really show improvement as the collagen plumps and grows (like a baby) and the muscles tighten.

There is little to no downtime and you can return to your normal daily routine after treatment.

Temporary numbness and redness may be experienced immediately following or a few days later tightening and lifting treatments.

Aftercare For HIFU

After undergoing a HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment, proper aftercare is important to support the healing process and maximize the results. Here are some general guidelines for HIFU aftercare:

  1. Protect your skin from the sun: It is crucial to protect your treated skin from direct sun exposure for at least a week after the procedure. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.

  2. Avoid intense heat and saunas: Refrain from exposing your treated skin to excessive heat sources, such as saunas, hot showers, or hot tubs, for at least 48 hours. Heat can potentially cause discomfort or irritation to the treated area.

  3. Gentle cleansing: Cleanse your skin gently using a mild cleanser. Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleansers that may irritate the treated area. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel instead of rubbing.

  4. Moisturize regularly: Keep your skin well-hydrated by applying a gentle moisturizer. Moisturizing helps maintain the skin's moisture barrier and promotes healing.

  5. Avoid aggressive skincare products: Avoid using aggressive skincare products, such as those containing strong acids or retinoids, for a few days after the treatment. These products may cause irritation or sensitivity to the treated area.

  6. Follow post-treatment instructions: Your healthcare provider or aesthetician will provide specific post-treatment instructions tailored to your individual needs. Follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper healing and optimal results.

  7. Be patient with results: It's important to understand that the results of HIFU treatments are not immediate. It may take several weeks or even months for the full effects to become apparent as collagen production is stimulated and the skin undergoes natural rejuvenation. Be patient and allow your skin time to heal and regenerate.

Remember, it's always best to consult with your skin therapist for personalised aftercare instructions based on your specific treatment and skin condition. They can provide you with the most accurate guidance to ensure a smooth recovery and maximize the benefits of your HIFU treatment.
